Testimonials

I’m so grateful to know Emily. We have used her as a cat sitter for several years and she has made such a huge difference for both my cats’ happiness and our peace of mind. She is incredibly responsible and genuinely cares about our cats' well-being. Our cats love her so much and we come home to happy, healthy, and content animals.

One of her biggest strengths is her training knowledge. She was able to redirect my older cat’s scratching behavior and transition her habit of scratching on furniture and carpets to using her scratching posts. She taught us how to redirect unwanted behaviors properly and to reinforce preferred behaviors in a very positive way. She’s wonderful at what she does and I recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and skilled trainer.

We have worked with Emily for four months and we are exceptionally impressed with her depth of knowledge and skill in helping us with our 10 month old Bernese mountain dog. Her blend of knowledge of animal behaviors with her understanding of behavioral psychology has helped us increase our training skills. We have taken many dog training classes for our other five Berners and none were as helpful as a few sessions with Emily. Our puppy was born/raised on a farm and had never had a leash on before us. He was very afraid on getting into our car and wouldn’t even approach it. Emily’s desensitization training proved exceptionally effective. He now readily hops in for road trips. We are continuing to work on cues, regaining his focus and staying at our sides on walks. Emily is giving us skills & knowledge so that training our dog will continue to be fun and rewarding for all of us. We highly recommend Emily as a “family trainer”.

Clientele served

  • Cats

Environmental setup, understanding consent, and consistency are the three most fundamental aspects of behavior modification in cats. While many of the techniques are the same as those used in reinforcement-based dog training, a great deal of misunderstanding is borne of the differences in body language between these two species.

  • Dogs

I have 10+ years of professional experience petsitting dogs. I have experience administering medications and supporting dogs who experience regular seizures.

  • Birds

I have petsitting experience with large and medium parrots, as well as handling experience with small parrots and pigeons. The bird I’m holding in this photo was nicknamed “Killer” by the grad students in the pigeon lab due to his aggressive behavior. I determined his aggression was due to the handling practices in the lab and was able to transport him without incident.

  • Aquariums

Fishkeeping is a beautiful synthesis of companion care and biochemistry. Successfully caring for an aquatic environment necessitates an understanding of both in order to meet the needs of any aquatic flora and fauna living in an aquarium.

I have seven years of personal fishkeeping experience.

  • Reptiles & Amphibians

My dearest leopard gecko, Lily, turned 20 this year. She helped spark my love of small animals and taught me so much about the importance of emulating the temperature, humidity, lighting, and diet of a pet’s natural habitat.

  • Invertebrates

Invertebrates such as hermit crabs, isopods, insects, myriapods, gastropods, and arachnids can all make wonderful pets with the proper care. Finding reliable care information can be a challenge, and hobbyists learn new things all the time about how best to care for our smallest companions.

  • Rabbits

I have experience with grooming under-socialized rabbits.
